College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Take a CLEP exam

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) helps you receive college credit for what you already know.

Developed by the College Board, CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program. There are 33 CLEP exams you can take through the Testing Center in five subject areas, covering material taught in courses you might generally take in your first two years of college. By passing a CLEP exam, you can earn three or more college credits.

Before you take a CLEP exam, check with your counselor to be sure it fits into your curriculum. You can download study guides and other materials to help you prepare. You also can review how many credit hours you'll earn by taking the CLEP exam.

Step 1: Register for your exam

Log into the CLEP website to register and pay for your exam. Once you have registered for a CLEP exam, you will schedule a day and time to take the exam through the Testing Center.
